Medical Update

So I still don't know much, but I will update on what I do know! I had an ultrasound on Tuesday to make sure I don't have any cysts or anything and they also measured my reproductive organs. Everything on that came back good. Good news but still unsure of why I have the pain in my lower left side. They also called me on Thursday and said they had the results on my pap smear and that everything with that came back good as well! I went this morning to have my blood work done at Deaconess. I had been fasting since 8:30 the Thursday night so I was ready to get it done and over with so I could have a drink! I hate having blood work done so my mom went with me for support and told me if I was good I could have a small milk shake! I'm lactose intolerant so that was a big treat for me! We got there at 9:30 and sat for an hour and 20 minutes while this poor women with two little boys and another one on the way tried to calm her screaming child. He cried the whole time we were there! I finally got to go back and one look at my veins and the nurse was like, great! I have no veins that show in the bend of my elbow where they usually take blood. She tried and tried and even gave me a stress ball to squeeze. She gave it a shot and finally got a vein, but not blood! I had to fast for one of the test which makes it harder to get the blood to come out of your veins. The nurse was super nice and then decided to try her own little trick. She filled a latex glove with hot water and I held it on the top of my hand to "warm" my veins up. She stuck me again, this time in the top of my hand and it worked! I was very good and even watched the huge syringe fill up with blood! Finally at 11:00 we were out of there and I got my milk shake! I won't know anything from that for a week or two, but I will be sure to update everyone with any news I find out. I'm pretty anxious myself and at this point hope they find something!

With my blood work done I will now be able to enjoy my three-day weekend, even though it's suppose to rain :-( Oh Well! Andrew and I are going out to dinner tonight and then coming home to enjoy our subdivision fire works. We had a good time at the block party last year so hopefully we'll have fun this year as well. They put on a really good show and I'm excited to see what they have up their sleeve this year. We'll have a swimming pool full of firework remains tomorrow but that's ok! My mom is smoking some ribs for dinner tomorrow and we will be having a big cookout tomorrow and Sunday! yummmm! I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

Heart Check Up

I went to my family doctor today for my yearly heart check-up. My heart beats too fast and could cause me to have a heart attack. I've been on medicine for it since 2006 and has kept it under control. My appointment went great and he said everything is working as it should and the medicine is doing its job and to just continue taking it. Whoo hoo finally some good news and one less thing to worry about! My next appointment is Tuesday for my ultrasound of my ovaries, so I will post with an update from that appointment afterwards!

Doctors

I am completely exhausted after my day of doctors visits! First up was the gynecologist in Newburgh. Andrew went along for moral support all though when we pulled in the parking lot he said, " I'm nervous and it isn't even me seeing the doctor!" I was like well thanks! He sat very nicely in the waiting room until I was done. My main concern for this doctor was my weight. Over the past four years I have gain about 75 pounds. I though maybe it was because of the birth control but she informed me that birth control does not make you gain weight, it is a misconception and basically something to blame. So she did a write up for about 5 different lab panels and I have to go have blood work done. They will be testing my thyroid, hormone levels, and metabolism amoung others. I was also having pains in my pelvic area so she ordered an ultrasound for next Tuesday to rule out any cysts or other abnormalities. The gyno was shocked as to what birth control my family doctor had me on. Apparently it is a very high dose of a certain hormone and isn't a commonly used birth control. She said some insurances won't pay for it because it is very expensive and she was really shocked when I said I only pay $24 a month for it. She wrote me up a new prescription for a different birth control as well. She said she would really like to take me off of it all thogether and let my body adjusts itself back to normal, but this just isn't a good time for that! I should know the results of the ultrasound the same day and will post an update, but it will probably be a couple weeks before I know anything from the lab work.

Next up was the dermatologist. I still have acne and I'm almost 22 years old and tired of still dealing with breakouts! I also have a lot of scarring on my chest from acne and was hoping to be able to do something to "fix" it. I was a little disappointed when he told me there wasn't anything he could do about the scars. He said scars are scars and can't be fixed, what can be fixed is whatever is causing the scars. In my case, acne. So he talked to me about a pill called Accutane. It is a very serious medicaton and comes with a lot of baggage. I can NOT get pregnant a month before I start the medication, while on the medication, or a month after I stop taking it. This medicine causes severe birth defects and is taken very seriously. I have to go into the office every month for a pregnancy test, evaluation, and chlosterol test. They won't give me the prescription in less my pregnancy test comes back negative and I only have 7 days to get the prescription filled. It's some pretty serious stuff! I am registered in the government program and I cannot donate blood! I don't start the medication until next month when I go back next month.
Tomorrow is the doctor appointment for my heart and I will update again with that information tomorrow!

The normal busy life

As usual we've been very busy! Summer school started last week and so we have added that to our already busy list. I've been trying to work on wedding stuff, but I just get frustrated and overwhelmed, it's so much work and so expensive! We are still having a summer wedding on September 18, 2010 and our colors are going to be mainly pink and orange but there will be lime green and blue too. There's a lake in New Harmony behind the New Harmony Inn that we are looking into getting married by. Andrew and I had our senior pictures taken in front of the same lake. We don't have much down time so I'm trying to keep up with our blog the best I can. We are both of next Monday (June 22) but I have two doctors appointments that will take up most of the day. Andrew is going to be going along with me for moral support, lol! I hate doctors! I am ready for these appointments though and ready to hopefully get some answers. Hopefully nothing major is wrong and whatever is wrong can be easily treated. I could definitely use some extra thoughts and prayers my way! I will be sure to let everyone know what I find out next Monday at the Doctors. We hope everyone has a great week!

Rough Week

Last week was pretty rough, we lost a friend to suicide and it left a lot of us asking why. Sean Stevens took his own life on May 13, 2009 at the age of 18. I grew up with Sean and have many childhood memories with Sean and his brothers. He is one of four boys, his older brother was killed a year and a half ago in a car accident and now Sean (the baby of the bunch) has gone to join his brother Jason. We wonder why, and we'll never know, but we know he isn't hurting anymore, that he's safe and he's been reunited with his older brother. I will always remember Sean as the little boy with a baby face and dimpled smile that could light up a room. I just keep replaying my entire childhood, swimming, bringing Barbies over to your house when your mom baby-sat me, playing in the dirt at the ball fields, there's just so many. I love you Sean and miss you everyday. It's still hard to believe you're really gone, but I know you and Jason are watching over us all. You'll never be forgotten, Rest In Peace Seany!

This weekend we have been pretty busy. Yesterday I cleaned me and Andrews bedroom from floor to ceiling and washed all of our bedding and curtains. Today I washed my Jeep inside and out, got all the laundry caught up, mowed the yard, and we have been working on getting the pool ready for Summer. As usual the weekend flew by, but I did accomplish a lot! Go me! I also want to send a shout out to my friend Ashley and say Congrats on your new job! She will be starting June 1st as a full-time Teller at Integra Bank! Way to go Ashley! In School news, only a couple more weeks until summer school starts, boo!! I'm so ready to be done! December can't come fast enough. I have been thinking and I would really like to go to beauty school once I receive my business degree and get my cosmetology license. I've always loved that sort of stuff and have been doing hair anyway for years. Andrew isn't so sure about it, but either am I! One of these days I will decide what I want to be when I grow up! Well I hope everyone has a great week!

Stressed, but still here!

I know I haven't been keeping up with our blog like I should, but man our we busy! Next weeks is finals and between papers and studying I am stressed to the max. After Thursday Andrew and I will both be done with school for three or four weeks! Thank Goodness, we could both use a break. Then summer school starts, but at least it's only 8 weeks long. In car news Andrew is moving right along on getting his car all put back together. He got his motor back last week and little by little has been getting everything ready for it to actually go back in the car. He's been working really hard and it's looking good! In wedding news, we are thinking about changing our colors! We are so indecisive! We both like the new colors better, but it means not having a fall wedding, which then means changing the date of the wedding also! Te new colors we are looking at are: lime green, hot pink, and orange as the main colors and some yellow and bluish color mixed in. Andrew thought I was crazy when I was describing it to him, but then I showed him a picture of a bouquet and he really liked it. We both agree it's more us! Wish us luck on our finals this week!

Busy as Always!

We are still as busy as ever! Last weekend we spent Easter with my family and had a very nice visit. I am so glad the weather is starting to warm up, but it's taking a toll on my allergies. oh well as long as it's warm I can live through it. Today I went and ordered my bridesmaid dress for my friend Ashley's wedding in September and saw some beautiful wedding gowns! I can't wait to start looking for dresses, but I have some time! Andrew and I are going out tonight! Yippee! I am thrilled to spend some quality alone time with him, it definitely doesn't happen often enough. Tomorrow my friends Ashley and I are going to have a hair coloring party! We both picked some drastic colors, so I will let you know how that goes! Just thought I would catch everyone up on what's going on while I wait for Andrew! We also need to send a shout out today:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE DONALD!!
